An application for a Certificate of Good Conduct may be filed either in Austria (at the Police Departments in the main cities or at the mayor's office in the smaller towns/villages) or abroad (at an Austrian Embassy or Consulate).
The applicant has to appear in person (either when filing the application or when picking up the certificate) at the Embassy or at one of the Honorary Consulates within the Embassy's jurisdiction. It usually takes between one and three weeks to issue the certificate.
