Drugs and Medicines Print E-mail
The Austrian Medicine Import Act generally prohibits the import of drugs and medicines into Austria.

However, certain exemptions to that rule exist for travelers:
A) Travelers residing ouside the European Union are allowed to carry with them (as part of their personal luggage) drugs and medicines in such a quantity that might normally be used by an individual having a health problem requiring such drugs or medicine.
B) Further, travelers while staying in Austria may receive drugs and medicines for their personal use. The quantity sent to them by relatives or friends, however, is limited to what an individual would normally use during the length of his stay in Austria and must never exceed three packages.

Finally, it is recommended that you bring with you either a prescription or written statement from your personal physician that the medicine is being used under a doctor's direction and is necessary for your physical well-being while traveling.
