-      Raimund Abraham (1933)

Abraham is the architect oftheAustrian Culture forum in New York City. He lives already more than 30 yearsin the USA.

 

-       Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach (20.July 1656– 5.April 1723)

He was the most famous architectofthe Baroque time. Erlach designed the Karlskirche and the Schoenbrunn palace.


-       Joseph Hardtmuth (13.February 1758 - 23.Mai 1816)

The Austrian architect invented thepencil and the chalkboard. 

 

-       Franz Hardtmuth (29.January 1832 - 27.July 1869) 

The famous Austrian architectcreated the specific yellow, which is now used for pencils.

 

-      Karl Freiherr von Hasenauer (20.July 1833 –4.January 1894)

Together with Gottfried Semplerhedesigned the Junghistorisches and Naturhistorisches Museum and theBurgtheater.

 

-      Coop Himmelblau (1968)

It was founded by Wolf Prix,HelmutSwiczinsky and Michael Holzer. It is an architectural design firm inVienna,which now also resides in the USA. Its most famous building in Austria isthe Gasometer.

 

-      Hans Hollein (30.March 1934)

Hollein designed theHaas-Hausopposite of the Stephansdom in Vienna.


-      Adolf Loos (10.December 1870 – 23.August 1933)

The Austrian architect is mostfamousfor the American Bar in Vienna. In America he is famous for his entryinto theChicago Tribune competition in 1922.

 

-      Richard Neutra (8.April 1892 – 16.April 1970)

Neutra is seen as one of the mostimportant modern architects. He emigrated to the USA 1923.

 

-      Gustav Peichl (18.March 1928)

He designed the EFA Radio Satellite Stationin Alfenz Austria.

 

-      Jakob Prandtauer (16.July 1660 – 16.September 1726)

Prandtauer designed the MonasteryChurch of Melk in Austria.


-      Rudolf Schindler (1887 – 1953)

In 1914, Schindler emigrated to the USA. His modern style became famous after his death.

 

-      Margarete Schuette-Lihotzky (23.January 1897 –18.January 2000)

The first Austrian female architectbecame famous for her invention of the Frankfurt Kitchen and her involvement inthe Widerstand against the Nazis.

 

-       Harry Seidler (25.June 1923 – 9.March 2006)

During the Second World War, Seidlerfirst emigrated to the USA and then to Australia. He studied in themost famousuniversities of America and became popular after designing the first Bauhausfor his parents in Sydney, the Rose Seidler House.

 

-       Otto Wagner (13.July 1841 – 11.April 1918)

           The Austrian architect designed several Jugendstil buildings in Austria.                Furthermore, he belonged to the “Vienna Secession” artistic group and publishedthe textbook “Modern
