Theme: Special aspects and universal characteristics of Abrahamic religions
Rome, 13 March 2008 - On 14 March 2008, the residence of the Austrian Ambassador to Italy, Dr. Christian Berlakovits, will be the venue for a high-ranking inter-religious meeting. Leading members of the American Jewish Committee, representatives of the Muslim community, professors and students of the Pontifical Gregorian University, representatives of the Community of Sant’Egidio and the chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Italian Chamber of Representatives will participate in an exchange of opinions on "Special Aspects and Universal Characteristics of Abrahamic Religions."
Claudio Betti of the Roman Community of Sant’Egidio, Rabbi David Rosen, Interfaith Director of the American Jewish Committee, Sheikh Ahmed Abbadi, adviser to the King of Morocco on Islamic questions, Rev. Justo Lacunza Balda, former rector of the Pontifical University for Arabic and Islamic Studies, and the representative Umberto Ranieri will discuss the significance of the theme for modern life and the world of our time. Ambassador Berlakovits will highlight the numerous Austrian initiatives taken in connection with the theme.
The event has been organised in cooperation with Lisa Palmieri-Billig, President of the Religions for Peace coalition.
