The Embassy of Austria invites applications for internships in Washington, D.C.
A unique experience in a place where the strings of power merge - this is what an internship at the Embassy of Austria offers to its interns. Live and work in one of the most cosmopolitan places on Earth, meet people from all around globe and risk an insight into how national and nternational policy-making takes place.
General requirements include:
- Austrian citizenship
- Fluency in English and German
- Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office)
- Student or working experiences in the field of the chosen Department
Please note:
- Only applications containing both a resume and a motivation letter (both in English) will be considered. Furthermore, every applicant must apply for a specific department (see below), general applications for the embassy will not be considered.
- Every application must contain a preferred time of stay. The minimum length of an internship at the Embassy of Austria is 3 months.
Please also note that on account of the small amount of possible internship positions the embassy must deny many applications. Negative responses to internship applications will only be in general.

Press and Information Service
Duties include:
- Responding to inquiries regarding Austria via e-mail, mail or phone
- Researching information from the internet
- Monitoring press articles from American newsletters and magazines on a daily basis
- Drafting reports on issues of interest for this homepage
- Attending various events, such as congress hearings, news conferences, and think tank briefings
- Participating in events the Embassy is holding

Political Department
Duties include:
- Assisting the head of the department in prepring information material and reports for the Austrian Ministry for European and International Affairs
- Attending various events, such as congress hearings and think tank briefings
- Attend briefings other embassies are giving
- Research information about various US-based political issues for Austria and Europe

Duties include:
- Assisting the head of the department in preparing information material and reports for the Austrian Ministry for European and International Affairs
- Writing reports for the head of the department
- Attending various events, such as congress or senate hearings, discussions or think tank briefings
- Attending receptions the embassy is conducting
- Research information about various US-based economic topics for Austria and Europe
