Oct28: Austria's national holiday celebrated in Ankara with "Mozart and the Turks" Print E-mail
mozart.jpgAnkara, 28 October 2008 - This year, Austria’s national holiday celebrations at the Austrian Embassy in Ankara focused on ‘Mozart and the Turks’, a narrative concert elaborated by the Austrian musicologist and director Nadja Kayali, which was performed by the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra and violin soloist Rebecca Hartmann under the baton of the Austrian conductor Ernst Würdinger. The presentation of the mutual musical and cultural influences was received enthusiastically by the audience, with the programme fitting well into the efforts for dialogue undertaken by both sides. Turkish television broadcast a cultural programme devoted to this event.
