UN Security Council adopted first Resolution under Austrian Presidency Print E-mail
Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at the UN Security Council in New YorkAs one of the ten elected non-permament members, Austria assumed the monthly rotating presidency of the UN Security Council for November 2009. As its first Resolution under the Austrian Presidency, the UNSC unanimously adopted Resolution 1894 on the protection of civilians in armed conflicts, a proposal convened by Austria. The Security Council Session, chaired by Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger, was also attendecd by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
