Would you like to climb a Tyrolean Mountain in the middle of Manhattan? Don’t worry, no mountaineering expertise is necessary! Good ears, a feeling for space and an appreciation for bringing together different musical cultures is all you need.

‘Roundtrip Tirol - NYC’ is a 2-day festival featuring 7 ensembles, adding the right amount of “extra” to “ordinary”.

Small town visits big town: The Outreach Music Festival & Academy, established in 1993 in Schwaz, Austria is a one-of-a-kind creative musical think-tank in the heart of the Alps. The brainchild of trumpeter, composer Franz Hackl, who grew up in Austria and has, for 25 years now, been a fixture in the NYC music scene, the Outreach Music Festival and Academy is an inspiring base for bringing together internationally established virtuosos from all over the world with great regional talents.

With Outreach Music, Mr. Hackl brings his 2 hometowns together. The core of the artists at his festival in Austria were always musicians/composers from NYC and Austria. It’s time to turn this around, reversing the normal route of the music biz. Lightweight versions of big city festivals in small towns no more! The Outreach Festival at the ACF: RT Tirol - New York is the first in a series of Outreach Satellite Festivals in major cities based on the successful model of the main Festival in Schwaz, Tirol.

Both NYC and Tirol are very unique and inspiring places, making music that is not found anywhere else, possible. You will feel the vibe and energy of both places right in the middle of Manhattan at the perfect location for this festival: the ACF building, an impossibly “super-thin” tower and iconic part of the Midtown Manhattan skyline. The late architect, Raimund Abraham (also Tyrolean) challenged the limits of what could be built on the slenderest of urban lots. Space is also very limited in Tirol and during this 2-day music festival we will work with space perception, as well.

The audience and musicians climb the “ACF Mountain” together, with surprises at each level, thereby growing in numbers and altitude, and culminating in the evening’s final concert in the theater (not to mention a bonus musical experience for the departing guests, entering their ears from above, originating from the rooftop terrace). It will be an unforgettable experience to say the least. Austrian Gasthaus “Tanzlmusi” meets NYC power Jazz.
