The Finance Department at the Embassy of Austria in Washington D.C. is headed by the Financial Attachée, Ms. Eva Liebmann, who has worked for the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance since 2007. The department is the central interface between Austria and the United States with regards to financial and fiscal policies. Furthermore, the office provides information about Austria and its financial policies.

Austrian Press & Information Service
Director: Ms. Alice Irvin, Press Counselor
The main objective of the Press & Information Service is to work closely with the American media and Austrian correspondents delegated to the United States. During visits from Austrian dignitaries, the Press Office is in charge of all media-related aspects of their meetings with representatives of the US government. It keeps the Austrian government informed about developments of the US media. Since 1995, the Information Service has also been responsible for hosting and updating this website. Every year, inquires from journalists, students, and private citizens reach us by phone or via e-mail, and we do our best to answer all queries within 48 hours. The print version of the quarterly newsletter Austrian Information has a worldwide circulation of approximately 12,000 readers.
Austrian Cultural Forum, Washington, D.C.

The Austrian Cultural Forum in Washington, D.C. continues to be a center for cultural exchange between Austria and the United States. The Cultural Forum can accomodate a total of 420 guests at a time. It regularly hosts cultural, educational, as well as community events. In collaboration with American and Austrian partner organizations, we are happy to host excellent classical, contemporary, and jazz concerts. We further offer exhibitions, literary and academic events, film screenings, and other special events. More than 10,000 visitors attend our events every year, the majority of which are open to the public.

Consular Section

The Consular Section of the Austrian Embassy provides a variety of services to Americans and foreign nationals traveling to Austria. It protects the interests of Austrian citizens in the United States, regardless of whether they are permanent residents or visitors. Furthermore, the Consular Section deals with all matters regarding Austrian citizenship. The Consular Section manages the work of the Passport and Visa Office as well as of the Office of Legal and Social Security Affairs.

Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
(except on Austrian and U.S. holidays)
PLEASE NOTE: The Embassy's consular section only deals with inquiries about residence permits, passports, visas, social security, etc. There are four Austrian Consulates General in the United States. Given that each one serves residents from a particular region, please contact the office in charge of your particular region. If you reside outside the U.S., please contact the Austrian Embassy or Consulate in your country.
Office of Science & Technology

The Office of Science & Technology (OST) at the Embassy of Austria in Washington, DC, acts as a strategic interface in the areas of higher education, science, research, and innovation policy between Austria and North America.
In keeping with its mission of “Building bridges of knowledge and expertise between Austria and North America”, the OST supports Austrian scientists in North America through the OST Scientist Network. It provides information on S&T and higher education trends and policy in Austria, Europe, and North America with its online magazine bridges. It also promotes transatlantic cooperation through support and advice on initiating R&D cooperation between institutions in Austria and North America.

Office of the Military Attaché

The Office of Defense, Military, Navy and Air Attaché is in charge of various issues relating to the US, Canada, and Austria. It is involved in the decision-making process in the Ministry of Defense, for instance, and it conducts research on certain topical issues. It acts as a representative of the Austrian Ministry of Defense on military and strategic matters, and it is also in charge of supply management.
