Federal Minister Kurz: “Work together for a strong Europe”

First network meeting of the Europe State Award-applicants in the Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs

“Europe faces great challenges – especially the refugee crisis. This is precisely the reason, why we need people, who provide the opportunity for on the ground discussion and then also carry citizens concerns back to us or to Brussels”, said Federal Minister, Sebastian Kurz at the network meeting with the applicants for the Europe State Award 2015. “Already now many devoted people make great contributions towards a strong Europe through their projects. We have recognised this commitment via the Europe-state award in May for the first time, but also want to forge closer links to all those who concern themselves with Europe and become active in this area”, so Federal Minister Kurz.

The meeting in the ministry is a start for a stronger exchange. The Europe-state award, which was cemented in the government programme following an initiative by the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs (FMEIA) is awarded for the first time this year on the occasion of the 20 year anniversary of Austria’s EU accession. It is doted with a total of € 10.500 in three categories of € 3.500 each for projects in the fields of civil-society, reporting on Europe and youth.
