Vienna is again the venue for international dialogue and a hub for high-level international diplomacy.

The day after the consultative meeting on the current situation in Libya was held in Vienna, representatives from twenty states convened in the city on Tuesday 17 May 2016 in order to add new momentum to the peace efforts that had reached an impasse.

On the part of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) the meeting was attended by representatives from the USA, Russia, China, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy as well as from Syria’s neighbours (Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran).
