Maryna Yakubovich: Connection

The Austrian Cultural Forum New York, in collaboration with the Rehearsal for Truth International Theater Festival, presents Connection, a powerful solo performance by Belarusian actress and director Maryna Yakubovich. Livestreamed from Salzburg to Bohemian National Hall, the event will be followed by an in-person discussion on the situation in Belarus, with Yakubovich joining remotely, and a reception.

Dedicated to Belarusian political prisoners and inspired by the story of activist Maria Kolesnikova, Connection explores themes of resistance, vulnerability, and the fragility of democracy. Combining documentary material with poetic expression, this 45-minute performance gives voice to those silenced by authoritarian regimes.

Yakubovich, former leading actress of Belarus Free Theatre and now based in exile, teaches at Mozarteum University Salzburg and remains a vital voice in politically engaged theater.

When: June 1, 2025 | 6 PM

Where: Bohemian National Hall, 321 East 73RD Street, New York, NY 10021
