The Austrian Cultural Forum New York invites you to the opening of Vally Wieselthier: Sculpting Modernism, the first U.S. institutional retrospective devoted to the groundbreaking Viennese-born Jewish artist whose radical ceramics and designs helped reshape modernist expression.
Bringing together works from leading international collections, this landmark exhibition celebrates Wieselthier’s exuberant, boundary-pushing approach that blurred the lines between fine art and craft. Known for her bold forms, vivid colors, and playful irreverence, she challenged conventional ideals of femininity and beauty while redefining ceramics as a vehicle of avant-garde innovation.
Complementing Wieselthier’s oeuvre is a new site-specific installation by New York–based Austrian artist Sascha Mallon, offering a contemporary dialogue with her life and work. Together, the exhibition presents Wieselthier as a trailblazer whose creativity and daring continue to resonate across time and place.
