Congratulations to Wolfgang Puck on being awarded the Grand Decoration of Honor in Silver for Services to the Republic of Austria by Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker!
Wolfgang Puck was born in Sankt Veit an der Glan in the state of Carinthia in 1949 and emigrated to the United States in 1973 at the age of 24. He opened the legendary restaurant Spago in Los Angeles in the early 1980s - the beginning of an extraordinary success story. Since then, he has built up a worldwide gastronomy empire, including renowned restaurants such as CUT and Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill. For many years, he has also provided culinary highlights at the Oscars, delighting Hollywood's biggest stars. In addition to his entrepreneurial achievements, Puck is also heavily involved in social causes, including the Puck-Lazaroff Charitable Foundation, which he co-founded.
With his life story and his work, Wolfgang Puck combines the best of both worlds on both sides of the Atlantic. We would like to thank him warmly for his services to transatlantic cooperation and congratulate him on this well-deserved award!
