Regional Consular Conference at the Embassy of Austria in Washington

Honorary Consuls from all over the U.S. came to Washington, D.C. from February 8-9, 2024 to join Ambassador Schneebauer for the Regional Consular Conference.

From consular issues to Al: The conference aimed at bringing together the Honorary Consuls for discussions with representatives from U.S. Department of EducationU.S. Department of Commerce, Office of Inspector General & U.S. Department of Labor as well as business representatives on significant topics such as apprenticeship & dual education and the future of Al. Another focus was on consular issues and on strengthening the relationship between the Embassy and the Honorary Consulates in providing the best services.

Honorary Consuls act as first emergency contacts for Austrians in need of help in their region and support the Consulates General in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and New York with services for Austrians permanently living in the U.S. Since all of them serve on an honorary basis, it was especially important for the Ambassador to express her deep appreciation for their excellent work.
