Federal Minister of Justice Dr. Anna Sporrer in New York
Federal Minister for Justice Dr. Anna Sporrer visited New York City from March 8-14, 2026 to lead the Austrian delegation to the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. In addition to her busy schedule at the UN, Federal Minister Sporrer also met with Commissioner Saloni Sethi of the New York City Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence and joined two events at the Austrian Consulate General New York.
On March 11, Dr. Sporrer presented the Decoration of Honour in Gold for Services to the Republic of Austria to Grand Rabbi Dr. Yitzchok Aharon (Ira A.) Korff, who served as Honorary Consul of Austria in Boston for more than 37 years. During his tenure, he assisted in many different ways, in particular in improving bilateral US-Austrian relations following the Waldheim Affair but also in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on the Boston Marathon in 2013.
The day after, Federal Minister Dr. Sporrer presented Austrian citizenship decrees under § 58c of the Austrian Citizenship Act to a Holocaust survivor and 20 descendants of persons persecuted by the National Socialist regime.
