Celebrating Austrian National Day 2025

The 2025 Austrian National Day Reception at the Embassy of Austria welcomed friends and partners for an evening celebrating Austria’s military neutrality and enduring commitment to peace, freedom and international cooperation. The evening also provided a great opportunity to underline the close ties and great partnership between Austria and the United States. Ambassador Petra Schneebauer was delighted to see so many friends of Austria in attendance and share the richness of Austrian culture with each of them. Guests enjoyed Austrian hospitality and cultural highlights that reflected Austria’s unique blend of tradition and innovation – from classical music and the film The Sound of Music to pioneering achievements in quantum science and Austria’s proud legacy of 25 Nobel Prize laureates, ranking Austria 7th in the world in terms of Nobel prizes per capita.

We were honored to welcome Congressman Greg Murphy, Co-Chair of the Congressional Austria Caucus, who delivered his remarks entirely in German – a wonderful gesture underscoring the friendship and partnership between our two nations. In true Austrian fashion, the celebration would not have been complete without the elegance of the Viennese Waltz, which was fitting this year, as we mark the 200-year anniversary of Johann Strauss, the “King of Waltz”.

Guests also enjoyed a taste of Austria with culinary specialties ranging from Käsekrainer and Frankfurter sausages at the “Wiener Würstelstand” to mini Schnitzel sandwiches and Sachertorte.

We extend our sincere thanks to all our guests, partners, and sponsors, especially Red Bull, for contributing to the success of this memorable evening.
