As part of a mission to explore and strengthen cooperation on workforce development and apprenticeship training, an Austrian business delegation by the Federal Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ), accompanied by Trade Commissioner Thomas Moschig (Advantage Austria) and our Economic Counsellor Leon Scheicher just wrapped up a visit to Ohio. They met with state representatives in Columbus and visited community colleges, career centers as well as state-of-the-art manufacturing sites in Northwest Ohio to share best practices in workforce training and to discuss future collaborations.

It was evident from these visits that Ohio is already committed to preparing the next generation through skills-based education. Austrian companies—with their deep-rooted expertise in dual apprenticeship systems—are proud to be contributing to these efforts.

A big thank you to all stakeholders involved, including the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, the Ohio Department of Higher Education, the Lorain County Community College and the Medina County Career Center. We appreciate the engaged discussions and the warm hospitality. A special thanks goes to Bill Johnson and the team at Welser Profile: your passion and drive for innovation in workforce development are truly inspiring!
