Launch of the Congressional Austria Caucus
On May 14, 2025 the Congressional Austria Caucus was officially launched on Capitol Hill — marking a historic milestone in the strategic partnership between Austria and the United States.
H.E. Petra Schneebauer, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the United States, initiated the launch and was delighted about the successful kick-off event.
The Embassy of Austria was honored to co-host the inaugural event, which brought together Members of Congress, Members of the Austrian National Council, the European Parliament, congressional staff, and representatives of the Austrian-American business community.
“This is a historic moment in our bilateral relations,” said Ambassador Schneebauer. “The Caucus opens new avenues for dialogue and cooperation at a time when transatlantic unity is more important than ever. As a country at the heart of Europe, Austria offers the U.S. a dynamic, innovative, and reliable partnership.”
This bipartisan initiative, led by co-chairs Congressmen Greg Murphy and Rick Larsen, aims to promote transatlantic cooperation, shared democratic values, cultural exchange, and to highlight the strong economic ties between our two countries.
A special highlight of the evening were the video greetings from Austria, featuring President of the Austrian National Council Walter Rosenkranz and Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger, who shared their strong support for the newly founded Caucus and the enduring friendship between Austria and the USA.
With more than 650 Austrian companies active in the United States and supporting over 40,000 American jobs, the Congressional Austria Caucus will serve as a valuable platform to deepen and expand this dynamic partnership.
Of course, we could not end the evening without bringing the most famous Austrian cultural representative to Capitol Hill: The Hills were alive with the Sound of Music.
We extend our sincere thanks to Red Bull for supporting this landmark event and thank you to everyone who joined us & made the evening so special!
