On Friday, September 5, members and guests gathered at Accenture Future Camp in Vienna for a special edition of AmCham Talks entitled “Inside Washington: The first six months. How work and transatlantic relations have changed with the new Trump administration”.

Speaking alongside Marion Biber from the Austrian Business Agency, and Ken Walsh, Commercial Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Austria, the Austrian Ambassador to the U.S., H.E. Petra Schneebauer, shared her first-hand experiences in Washington, D.C., under the newly re-elected U.S. administration. She spoke about the current priorities in U.S. foreign policy, emphasizing the importance of maintaining open lines of communication and reinforcing Austria’s role as a stable partner. She underlined the strong bilateral relations and the equally strong transatlantic relations overall as a cornerstone for peace, security and economic growth across the globe. The United States is Austria’s most important partner outside of the EU and it second biggest trading partner. Ambassador Schneebauer stressed that as a result Austria has an interest in having a good trade relationship with the United States to provide economic certainty. She also pointed out that Austria has a high technical expertise through its world-class research institutions and is ready to work together with the United States on investments in fields such as energy and technology.

With a strong turnout and engaging Q&A, the event offered a valuable platform for networking and discussion on the evolving U.S.–Austria relationship.
